Defence giant to shut Leeds factory:

Defence giant BAe Systems is to close its Leeds factory with the loss of 76 jobs, partly because of the withdrawal of British troops from Iraq, it was announced today.

The site at Stourton will close in March next year.

Tiberius would never usually welcome the loss of jobs (especially not those in the manufacturing sector), but he thinks that the “Global Combat Systems Vehicles and Weapons businesses” (i.e. death-industry) is one that Leeds can definetly live without.

P.S., Tiberius has heard the saying that “attack is the best form of defence”, but can a company supplying weapons for the invasion of Iraq really be described as a “defence giant”?
